Sue Ceswick began tap dancing at age four, inspired by Shirley
Temple, and
happily danced through her childhood in Detroit, MI. She
rediscovered tap as an adult in Portland, OR, in Jefferson High School’s
stellar dance program.
Sue has been fortunate to study with such masters as: Honi Coles,
Eddie Brown, Steve Condos, Cholly Atkins, Brenda Bufalino, Terry Brock,
Sam Weber, Heather Cornell, Dianne Walker, Lynn Dally, Linda
Sohl-Donnell,
Savion Glover and Gregory Hines.
She began teaching tap for City of Portland Parks and Recreation in
1982, and has taught hundreds of students at community schools,
recreation centers and private studios throughout the Portland area. Sue
also spent time in Santa Barbara, CA teaching at The Dance Warehouse and
UCSB.
She continues to teach both children and adults at Tualatin Dance
Center, Portland Community College and at her own Tap Girl home studio.
Sue runs a fun, fast-paced tap dance class that covers rhythm and
Broadway style tap techniques, using music ranging from jazz and swing
to rock and funk. Her enthusiasm and love of tap send students away with
happy feet.
Come dance at Tap Girl studio! New classes are now forming.
